The SIMpill medication compliance device requires that all people (the patient and up to two caregivers) have an existing
cell phone that can receive text messages - most phones sold over the last five years are text-capable.

When a SIMpill is ordered from SIMpillDirect.com, our professionals program the unit with multiple "time windows" based
upon the patient's dosing schedule of the drug.  (example: EST 1:00pm, 6:00pm, etc.)

When the patient opens the bottle during a "time window," SIMpill automatically sends a wireless SMS message to  our
secure central computer system indicating that a dose has been taken.  

If the SMS message is not received within the first programmed "time window," an outgoing text message is sent to the
patient’s cell phone (and/or e-mail) reminding him or her to take their medication.  

If the bottle is still not opened within 30 minutes, a text message indicating a missed dose can be sent to up to two
designated caregivers cell phones (and/or email).  A caregiver can then contact the patient by some other means.  
Works with any text-capable cell phone:
The system consists of a durable, tamper-proof pill bottle attached to a SIMpill module containing the components of an
ordinary cell phone.  The module includes a pre-loaded SIM card that enables it  to transmit SMS messages through
existing wireless cellular tower networks.  

Not only is the patient notified when he or she misses a dose, but up to two designated caregivers are also notified.  All
notifications are made through everyone's existing text-capable cell phones - no extra equipment needed.
